SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It's SDSU Day at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls. The free day of activities include demonstrations of NASA rovers and other robotics, live music and SDSU ice cream. The hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Main Avenue in front of the Pavilion will be closed to traffic for the outdoor activities.

The South Dakota Festival of Books in Brookings connects readers with national and regional authors for presentations, panel discussions, book signings and other special events this weekend. Activities are taking place throughout the day at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center, the Brookings Public Library and the Children's Museum of South Dakota. The Festival of Books wraps up on Sunday.

Saturday in the Park at the Tea City Park includes a farmer's market, food trucks, local vendors, bounce houses, live music and bean bag tournaments. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free.

Dive into the spirit of autumn at a Falling for Animals event at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. Get ready for bubble parties, inflatables, lawn games, a strawbale photo op and watch the animals enjoy pumpkin treats from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is a zoo admission.

Remedy Brewing Company in downtown Sioux Falls is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration that includes live music, German food specials, dachshund races and a stein-holding competition. Oktoberfest goes from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Sioux Falls Parade of Apartments includes guided tours of more than thirty apartments, lofts and town homes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can also tour the properties online. Enter to win a grand prize drawing for a stay-cation package at The Steel District.

The Menno Pioneer Power Show includes stream threshing & plowing, plus gas tractors on display, antique farm demonstrations, crafts, a flea market, a tractor pull and toy show. It's taking place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday at Pioneer Acres, a quarter-mile north of Menno. Admission is $10, free for ages 18 and under.

It's $5 Bag Day at the Friends of the Library Book Sale at the Rock County Community Library in Luverne, MN. You can purchase a bag of books for $5 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Sioux Falls Out of the Darkness Walk is a benefit for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Registration starts at noon at Levitt at the Falls. A program begins at 1:30 p.m.

The Walk to Defeat ALS in Sioux Falls is an opportunity to come together to raise funds for treatments and a cure for ALS, as well as helping families dealing with the disease. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. at Sertoma Park. The 1-mile walk begins at 10 a.m.

Piper's pumpkin stand: Generosity by the gourd

Skate City in Sioux Falls is celebrating its 50th anniversary with discounted skating from 6-10 p.m. Admission is $5 with rentals at $3.50.

The Great Akron Scarecrow Festival features a scarecrow decorating contest, food and baked goods, kids games and a petting zoo. It's taking place at the city park in Akron, IA from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The Fall Festival at Country Apple Orchard in Harrisburg, SD includes picking your own apples, a petting zoo, apple cannon range, a zip line and corn maze. Today's hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday's hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $14.95. Free for kids under three feet tall. The Fall Festival runs every weekend through October.

Freedom Festival at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, SD includes live music, inflatables, touch-a-truck, face painting and a fireworks show. The first 500 kids receive a free swag bag. Gates open at 4 p.m. Admission is $25. It's free for veterans and kids 12 and under.

Farmers Market season in KELOLAND includes the Falls Park Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Brandon Farmers Market goes from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 925 North Splitrock Boulevard. The farmers markets are held each Saturday through October.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include The Batman and Batman Forever, both rated PG, plus Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, rated PG-13.

The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium features Wings Over Water, Magic Globe, Unseen Universe and Cities of the Future.

New movie releases playing at a theater near you include Transformers One, rated PG, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story, rated PG-13 and Never Let Go, rated R.
