Sauquoit man arrested in hit-and-run in New Hartford
NEW HARTFORD, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Sauquoit man has been arrested by New Hartford Police after a hit-and-run incident on Oneida Street on Wednesday.
Officers responded — along with the New Hartford Fire Department — to the report of the hit-and-run in the vicinity of 3600 Oneida Street at approximately 3:30 pm on Wednesday, November 6. Upon their arrival, they found the victim — 36-year-old Joshua Hall of New Hartford — laying injured on the side of the road.
Hall was assisted by officers and EMTs on the scene and then transported to the Wynn Hospital in Utica. Police say that though Hall has multiple serious injuries, none of them are considered to be life-threatening.
Further investigation by New Hartford Police allowed them to track down the vehicle that had fled the scene, as well as the operator — 37-year-old William Smith of Sauquoit. He was subsequentlycharged with:
Moving from Lane Unsafely,
second-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation,
Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle, and
Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Accident.
New Hartford Police say that the investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be imposed.
Smith was processed and released on traffic tickets, returnable to the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
