Savannah High to host Community Plant Sale and Fall Festival
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High announced on Friday that it will host the annual Community Plant Sale and Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The Fall Festival will feature a range of interactive educational stations focused on environmental sustainability, agriculture, and creative exploration.
Among these activities are:
Build a Bug Hotel: Young learners will create "bug hotels" using natural materials, providing essential shelter for beneficial insects while learning about ecosystems and biodiversity.
Composting Basics: Students will discover the basics of composting by layering organic materials and learning how compost supports healthy soil and sustainable gardening.
Mini Greenhouse Experiment: Kids will construct their own mini greenhouses using clear bags and small pots, observing how a greenhouse environment supports plant growth.
Bird Feeder Workshop: Attendees will make eco-friendly bird feeders from recycled materials, helping to support local wildlife and learn about bird habitats and conservation.
"We are excited to open our campus to younger students in the community," said School of Liberal Studies Principal Stacie Pottenger. "Our Fall Festival is not only about having fun but also about inspiring curiosity and an appreciation for the environment. This year, we're focusing on sustainable practices, and our students are eager to teach younger kids about caring for our planet, our community, and their own health and fitness."
The event will be held at the Savannah High School of Liberal Studies Campus, 400 Pennsylvania Ave, in Savannah. It will last three hours, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
