SB Nation Reacts: What do results say Bills should do about Tyler Bass?

N.Kim22 min ago
At 2-0 and in first place in the AFC East, the Buffalo Bills have gotten off on the right foot to begin their 2024 NFL season. Putting up 65 points in two winning efforts has found favor with most of Bills Mafia, and fans are bulked in — ready to see what's really in store for Buffalo by season's end.

To get where Buffalo hopes to be come January and beyond, they'll have to continue stringing together wins, beginning in Week 3. The folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook opened the week with the Bills favored by 5.5 points over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the line remains unchanged. That speaks to the confidence in Buffalo despite their recent struggles against Jacksonville.

Largely cast as an afterthought in the Super Bowl race thanks to massive change in roster structure, the Bills have played complementary football to near perfection against both the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins . Suddenly, many analysts have begun to wake up to the idea that the Buffalo Bills might still be a serious threat to challenge for league supremacy in 2024. It's as though many doubters forgot that Josh Allen plays quarterback in Buffalo.

Bills fans, on the other hand, haven't lost track of that important fact, and most will tell you that even losing wide receiver Stefon Diggs won't fully dampen the loftiest of goals.

In this week's SB Nation reacts survey , we asked Buffalo Rumblers two questions:

Are you confident in the current direction of the Buffalo Bills?Do you believe it's time to move on from Tyler Bass?
And in this week's results, voters let it be known just how on-board they are with the Bills' current direction. After hovering on either side of 75% the last two weeks, Bills Mafia's approval rating of the team rocketed up to a 93% ahead of the Week 3 showdown.

We also wanted to know what voters believe is true of kicker Tyler Bass — whether it's time to move on from him or not. Bass has missed one field goal on the season (making three others), and it happened on a wet field down in humid South Florida. The Bills were in no position to lose the game at that point, yet that miss continued to fuel some speculation about Bass' job security.

Following the victory, word spread that One Bills Drive hosted a pair of free-agent kickers this past week . Had the Bills lost faith in Tyler Bass, based on that miss and his Week 1 kickoff struggles into a fierce fourth-quarter win? Were those latest miscues simply the breaking point for what was an up-and-down offseason of practice?

While we don't know yet what's to come of those workouts with Anders Carlson and Cade York, it's evident that our voters are less convinced that a change at kicker needs to be made. One need only look at both Carlson and York's body of work and lack of experience to question the efficacy of parting ways with Bass.

Right now, just 38% of voters are convinced it's time to replace Tyler Bass with a different kicker.

Jaguars fans were asked to vote on the outcome of this week's MNF matchup, and the results over at Big Cat Country might surprise you .
