Scammer targeting personal information of Daytonians

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A new scam seeking to obtain your personal information is targeting Daytonians.

Residents of Dayton have called the city of Dayton to report someone asking for their personal information. According to the city, the reports have said the caller claims to be a city employee who asks for private information.

The city said the caller is not a city employee, and the call is a scam.

"We will never ask for your personal information via phone, email, or social media," said the city. "If you receive such a request, do NOT share any information. and report the incident to the police."

It is always recommended to never share personal information or submit money to someone who you don't know.
