The Wyoming Seminary Chorale and Madrigal Singers will present a concert of seasonal music at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 8 in the Great Hall, 228 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, just north of Kingston Corners. The concert is free and open to the public.
‘CELTIC CHRISTMAS’
Considered a master of the Irish narrative, storyteller Tomáseen Foley will offer the best of Ireland’s rich cultural heritage with an evening of Celtic music, song and dance when Misericordia University presents “Tomáseen Foley’s A Celtic Christmas” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 in Lemmond Theater in Walsh Hall.
Joined by Celtic musicians, dancers and singers, he will offer a mix of Irish stories, traditional Irish Christmas carols and high-kicking dance for an evening of fun that enlivens the Christmas spirit.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for general admission, $5 for alumni, senior citizens and children 12 and under, and free to Misericordia students and are available by calling the Misericordia Box Office at 570-674-6719.
The College Guidance Department at Wyoming Seminary Upper School will host a special forum titled “The College Forum: Local Gems” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in the Stettler Learning Resources Center, North Sprague Avenue, Kingston.
The free forum will feature admission directors from eight local colleges and universities discussing the value of attending a local college.
The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery at Misericordia University will present “KLEVINSKY: Mixed Media,” an exhibit of abstract artwork of Wilkes-Barre native David Klevinsky. In addition, an exhibit of black and white photography, “Philip Dente: Found Places,” will be on exhibit in the adjoining MacDonald Art Gallery.
The exhibits will be on display through Dec. 13. The Pauly Friedman Art Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.
Timothy Seibles, M.F.A., an American poet and English and creative writing professor at Old Dominion University, will deliver the commencement address at Misericordia University’s third annual winter graduation ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Anderson Sports and Health Center on campus that will also feature the first graduating class from the entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
A baccalaureate Mass will precede the ceremony in the Anderson Center at 10:30 a.m.
The Misericordia University Adult Admissions Office is holding an open house for adult learners interested in continuing their education from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Huntzinger and Alden Trust Rooms 218-219 of Sandy and Marlene Insalaco Hall.
In case of inclement weather, a make-up day has been scheduled for Jan. 8.
Guests can drop in at their convenience and speak with faculty and representatives from admissions and financial aid. Prospective students who bring transcripts will receive an instant unofficial transcript evaluation.
