School No. 33 celebrates students with perfect attendance

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Time has seemingly been flying by as we mark about a month into the new schoolyear. Some students are already seeing the benefits of going to school every day – ready to learn.

Friday morning, students with perfect attendance at School No. 33 were treated to breakfast with Rochester Mayor Malik Evans. There, he congratulated the students, emphasizing the importance of being in school every day. A sentiment echoed by school leaders.

"It maximizes our instruction time, getting our scholars in school every day really makes a difference. But it takes a village," said Lisa Garrow, the principal of School No. 33. "We need our community support, to support our families and our parents and our families to support getting those students on that bus every day and into our doors."

Events like these are a monthly endeavor at the school. Principal Garrow said they announce what the new incentive will be at the start of each month, giving kids a reason to be excited about coming to school.
