UFC icon Conor McGregor deleted a disgraceful social media post mocking paralysed boxer Prichard Colon after Jake Paul 's win against Mike Tyson in Texas on Saturday. The controversial and heavily-anticipated bout went the full eight rounds in Arlington, Texas but all-out drama was in short supply as Tyson, 58, was unable to match the energy of his much younger opponent. The former heavyweight champion threw just 97 punches as his condition worsened throughout the clash, while Paul, 27, refused to land a blow that would have ended the boxing legend's night early. Though the fight was professionally sanctioned - Tyson's first such bout in nearly two decades - it looked like an exhibition, something McGregor is familiar with having contested a non-sanctioned combat sports crossover fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2017. After Paul's win, the Irish superstar took to social media to post 'They are eyeing Prichard Colon for next opponent' before removing the message after intense criticism from disgusted boxing fans. Back in 2015 Colon, competing as a super-middleweight at the time, suffered a bleed on the brain after taking repeated blows to the back of the head during his fight with America's Terrel Williams in Virginia . After vomiting and collapsing in the dressing room after his defeat, the Puerto Rican was rushed to hospital before spending 221 days in a coma. The fight with Williams resulted in part of his skull collapsing. Since emerging from the coma, Colon has been left in a vegetative state with life-altering injuries. He is now being looked after by his mother in Orlando, Florida. Boxing fans condemned McGregor's sick joke, with several labelling the UFC superstar a 'scumbag' on X. 'That deleted tweet from McGregor about Colon was just nasty,' commented one fan. 'Conor be saying some f****d up s**t as it is but this one is DEFINITELY high up on the list,' wrote another. 'That's so messed up,' said a third. Tyson looked unsteady on his legs early on in the bout and fans were relieved to see him make it through the eight rounds without being seriously hurt. Paul claimed he lucky to be able to fight 'Iron Mike' at all after an injury in training camp leading up to the big night nearly derailed the contest. 'Two weeks ago I sprained my ankle, completely tore the ligament, anterior ligament and like snapped the other side of my foot,' Paul said in the post-fight press conference. '[I] Was on crutches for four or five days and it just hindered the end of my training camp. I don't know how it didn't get leaked or anything. I missed about two weeks of sparring and that's why my cardio didn't really feel so good tonight.' Paul did have to use his feet early on to avoid Tyson's punches, but other than that he cruised through the bout. The 'Problem Child' didn't show too many signs of the injury, which could well be a testament to his toughness. The bout had to be rescheduled after Tyson was forced to pull out of their original date with a health crisis of his own. Tyson detailed the nature of his ordeal on 'Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson', a Netflix documentary released during the lead-up to the fight. 'I was training, and I was doing great,' Tyson said, via New York Magazine. 'Then all of a sudden, I started feeling kind of tired and I was explaining to my trainer, "I don't know what's wrong with me".' Tyson's symptoms intensified while flying and he thought he might die. 'Coming here from Miami on the plane, I went to the bathroom, and I threw up blood, next thing I know, I'm on the floor and I was defecating tar,' Tyson said. 'So, I came here [to the hospital] and they found out I had a big ulcer — two-and-a-half inches and it's bleeding. All of my friends were calling me like I'm dying. 'I asked the doctor if I'm going to die, and she didn't say no, she said, 'We have options, though,' and that's when I got nervous. I can't wait to get out of this m— man, I want to fight and get back to training.'
