MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Senator Ted Cruz made a campaign stop in Midland on Thursday, with less than 20 days left before Election Day.

"Oil and gas is growth, oil and gas low cost energy drives down inflation, oil and gas funds our schools, oil and gas funds our future, and there are radicals in Washington that want to destroy every job in the Permian Basin. Well I'm here to tell you they gotta go through me first," said Senator Cruz.

Tall City Brewery was packed wall to wall with supporters waiting for Cruz who showed up more than 40 minutes late to his event, originally slated for 6:30 p.m. Many of his supporters coming from different backgrounds such as "Farmers for Cruz", "Women for Cruz", and police officers showed up, signs in hand.

Cruz spoke about his opponent in the tight Senate race, Collin Allred, equating his energy policies to Biden and Harris's energy policies.

"Colin Allred is Kamala Harris. Under Joe Biden's Kamala Harris, we have seen a way waged on oil and gas. We've seen regulation after regulation slamming oil and gas jobs in the state of Texas, killing jobs in Texas. Joe Biden issued a ban on new permits to export liquid natural gas. Colin Allred voted in favor of Joe Biden on the ban on LNG permits."

"But I gotta tell you – west Texas, the Permian Basin has had a special place in my heart. I love west Texas, I love the values here. I think Midland-Odessa is the most entrepenurial place on the planet."

Polls from Thursday showed Cruz leading by four points over Allred in the race. You can learn more about Cruz and his platform on his website here .
