Shannon Medical hosts drive-thru flu shot clinic

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — Shannon Medical Center's Charissa Sheppard and Twila McMurtrey spoke with Carolyn McEnrue about the Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic.

The clinic is from Wednesday, October 2 to Friday, October 4 from 9 AM to 7 PM and takes place at Shannon South Campus on Executive Drive of Knickerbocker Road. The address for Shannon South Campus is 3605 Executive Dr.

Patients six months and older are welcome at the clinic; no appointment is necessary. There is a $35 fee for flu shots, and a high-dose vaccine is also available for $80. Cash, checks, and insurance are all accepted. If using insurance, no payment is required during service. The high-dose vaccine is for patients with chronic illnesses, who are elderly, or who are immunocompromised.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention "recommend a yearly flu shot" and "vaccination before December" to ensure that the antibodies from the vaccine are in place before high flu activity.
