Sheila Todd

Sheila (O'Keefe) Todd died peacefully on October 1, 2024 at her home in Boulder CO. She was known for her ready sense of humor and genuine and heartfelt interest in everyone surrounding her. She was 82. Sheila was born in Detroit Michigan, but spent her childhood in Long Island. She graduated from Green Vale School in Long Island and Garrison Forest School in MD where she excelled as an athlete and was captain of many teams. Sheila received her BA from the University of Colorado with a focus on English and went on to work for US News and World Report; in real estate and as a paralegal.

Sheila was first and foremost a great friend. She put everyone at ease with her self-deprecating sense of humor and saw the world with no pretenses, just joy! Sheila was a beautiful athlete and spent much of her free time playing tennis with her friends and family. She loved to be outside whacking a ball around – her drop shot was legendary! She was a gardener, kept chickens and was game for anything! She felt strongly about helping others whenever she could, and spent years delivering food for Meals on Wheels, volunteering with Bead for Life in an effort to provide opportunity for women in Africa and getting her hands dirty with the Nature Conservancy.

In 1998, she married Peter Wyckoff of Buffalo, NY. and they settled in Boulder. Sheila and Peter had first met back East when they were 14, and re-met 30 years later in Colorado. They truly adored one another and spent a quarter of a century camping, laughing and adventuring with their friends and family. They hosted Thanksgivings and Easters for family, friends, and friend of friends – their doors always open to everyone! Sheila was unaware of the enormous impact she had on people. She adored her grandchildren and was always going the extra mile to make things just a little weird and always fun. She was a devoted wife; the mother everyone wished they had; and the friend you felt lucky to be with. She quietly made the world a better place and will be deeply missed.

Sheila is survived by her husband Peter Wyckoff, her brother John E. O'Keefe III (Toni) of Massachusetts, her sister Hilary Walker Gilmore (Peter) of Oregon, her children William Todd (Betsy) of Florida, Whitney Zimmerman (Kevin) of Colorado and James Todd (Nikki) of Montana; and her grandchildren, Wyatt Hodge (Sam), Graceley Todd, Caden Zimmerman and Ben Zimmerman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Boulder Meals on Wheels
