Shooting suspect kills himself after stand off with St. Louis police in Dutchtown neighborhood

ST. LOUIS — A shooting suspect died Tuesday after barricading in a home to hide from police in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood.

Officers were called to South Grand Boulevard and Meramec Street just before 4 p.m. on several reports of a shooting, police said.

The found a 43-year-old man in the alley of the 4200 block of South Grand Boulevard who had been shot and was taken to the hospital, according to a report.

Officers learned the 19-year-old man suspected of shooting the man ran into a nearby home, police said.

Negotiators and SWAT responded to the house, police said, but were unable to make contact with the teenager.

Police obtained a search warrant and entered the home, where they found the 19-year-old in a bedroom. He had shot and killed himself, police said.
