Shooting victim seeks help at Midtown IHOP
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are investigating after a shooting victim sought help at a Midtown IHOP early Saturday morning.
At 2:31 a.m., officers responded to an aggravated assault at the IHOP on Union Ave.
The complainant was a security guard at IHOP and told officers that the victim came into the restaurant at 2:23 a.m. saying he'd been shot.
According to the complainant, the victim left the business in an unknown direction. Officers requested additional units to the scene to canvas the area for the victim.
Officers saw a blue 2005 Honda Accord with bullet holes and a busted driver-side window on the south of the building.
They also found five shell casings on the southeast side of the building.

Officers spoke with a manager at IHOP who was on the scene and she told them that she had access to the camera surveillance system inside the business.
Officers received the surveillance video and observed the victim sitting in the passenger seat of the blue 2005 Honda Accord.
As the gunshots were fired from the southeast side of the building by an unknown suspect into the Honda. The victim jumped out of the driver-side window and ran inside IHOP at 2:24 a.m.
Officers described the victim as a man wearing a gray hat, red and black plaid shirt, black tank top and red shoes.
The victim briefly spoke to the complainant before fleeing the scene from the business through the front door and walking northbound on Diana Street towards Madison Ave.
Officers learned that the victim arrived at Regional One Hospital by a private vehicle. He was in non-critical condition.
