Shots fired at NOPD officers in Treme; suspect barricaded in home, police say

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The NOPD responded to an officer assistance call in the 3100 block of North Tonti Street in the Treme neighborhood after shots were fired toward officers.

The incident began around 6:50 p.m. while officers served a warrant. Though shots were fired, there are no reports of injuries at this time, according to police.

The suspect involved has barricaded themself inside a residence, and NOPD has established a large perimeter around the scene.

A SWAT team has not yet been deployed, but the situation remains active.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area near Feliciana Street and North Miro Street while the investigation continues.
