The Vanderbilt Commodores pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the college football season in Week 6 as they knocked off the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, 40-35.

Vandy quarterback Diego Pavia became an instant Nashville legend with his performance, completing 16-of-20 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and zero turnovers. He also added 56 rushing yards.

With the Commodores up five and 2:44 remaining, Pavia led his team to multiple first downs against a top Alabama defense, running the clock out and securing the win.

After the win, Vanderbilt Football took to social media to make a post that taunted the famous Bama phrase "Roll Tide." The post has nearly 100,000 views on X.

"ROLL DORES ROLL," Vanderbilt wrote on X.

Many fans left their comments on the post, loving the message the Commodores sent to Bama.

"TIDE GOT ROLLED," one fan said .

"America was saved today," added another.

"I speak for all Texas fans when I say thx you for winning!" chimed in a third.

"" replied a fourth.

"Vanderbilt - America's Team," said another.

With the big win, Vanderbilt was able to pick up its first-ever win over a No. 1 ranked team. This was also their first home win over a top-25 team since a 2019 game against the No. 22 Missouri Tigers.

Pavia wasn't the only Commodores player that performed well. Running back Sedrick Alexander added 21 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns. Even the defense got involved as linebacker Randon Fontenette added a pick-six off Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Vanderbilt now sits at 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in SEC play. It has a Week 7 date with the Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington. Alabama suffered its first loss of the season, which came following their big win last week over Georgia. The Tide fall to 4-1 and 1-1 in the conference.
