Are you running for Borough Council in Shrewsbury? Contact Sara Winick at for information on being featured in a candidate's profile and submitting campaign announcements to Shrewsbury Patch.

As a long-time and thoughtful resident of Shrewsbury (45+ years), and as an experienced professional psychologist, I believe I can bring a fresh and useful voice to the Council.

What sets you apart from other candidates? I cannot say what separates me from the other candidates.

I do know that over the years, both personally (as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Lunch Break) and professionally (as a management consultant), I've worked with a variety of people and groups to help solve organizational and community problems.

I will bring my good listening and interpersonal skills to the Shrewsbury Borough Council.

What do you see as the biggest issue facing Shrewsbury, and how will you resolve it? My running mate, Don Senna, and I believe that traffic on Broad Street which, at times is dangerous and frustratingly backed up, is a major issue of concern for our community.

In anticipation of Netflix and retail development at the Fort, and to improve traffic flow near the railroad tracks to the north, we need to work with our neighboring towns, County, and State representatives to improve safety and congestion.

This might involve acquiring, with the help of the County and/or State, the abandoned oil change building at the corner of White Street and Broad in order to make a right turn lane. This would reduce backup on Route 35.

Cleaning up Parker Creek is another important issue, as is improving communication between citizens and the Council. We should make it known how to volunteer for committees, publicize council meetings and agendas, and go back to live stream of meetings

What are past accomplishments or experiences that make you qualified for this position? I was a founding partner of an organizational management consulting firm. I have led numerous human relations & organizational development workshops, and executive team-building sessions. I was on the Board of Directors of a condominium association and was an auxiliary member of the Board of Directors of Habitat For Humanity of Monmouth County.
