WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Gray News) - Four young people from New York are fighting for their lives after they were hit by a car on the way home from a party in a crash that killed one of their friends.

Bella Trezza, 17, picked up her brother, 18-year-old Austin Trezza, and a few friends from a party around 1 a.m. Saturday in West Babylon. As they were headed home, police say another driver ran a red light and crashed into their car, WCBS reports .

Riley Goot, 18, died in the crash, while the Trezza siblings, 18-year-old Jack Murphy and 16-year-old Anthony Pagliuca were all hospitalized with serious injuries.

Loved ones and members of the community held prayer vigils both Sunday and Monday night after the incident that "turned countless lives upside down," according to an online fundraiser .

"I just want everyone to keep saying 'Goot,' his nickname everyone loved, to not give up on everyone else just because one was lost," Goot's sister told WCBS at the Sunday vigil.

Goot is described as "an amazing young man" and "a ray of light" on a GoFundMe set up for his family . He graduated from high school last year.

Bella Trezza, a high school senior and aspiring nurse, is on life support after suffering severe brain trauma in the crash. Her outlook is not good, according to a GoFundMe set up for her family . She is described as "a bright ray of sunshine."

"She's a sweetheart, and she's one of the nicest people I ever met. She brings joy to everyone's day," friend and classmate Ryan Quinn told News 12 Long Island .

Meanwhile, Austin Trezza, a recent high school graduate and volunteer firefighter, is on the road to recovery but still faces multiple surgeries and rehabilitation, according to GoFundMe. His fellow firefighters were among those who responded to the crash.

"When the fire crews pulled up, they realized that one of the victims was one of our members," said West Babylon Fire Department Chief Steven Kamalic, as reported by WABC . "Praying for all families."

That sentiment has been echoed by others throughout the community, which was left devastated by the fatal crash.

"You just gotta love your friends and family. Give them a hug. Just tell them you love them," said Andrew Mandelbaum, a West Babylon High senior, at the Sunday vigil, according to WCBS.

Fundraisers have also been set up for the families of Murphy and Pagliuca , the other two victims of the crash.

Police say the 33-year-old driver accused of causing the crash died at the scene, News 12 Long Island reports.
