sign DJ has sights set on Glastonbury

The teen DJ with his sights set on Glastonbury Harry may seem very young to be aspiring to perform at Glastonbury. But the 13-year-old from Newbury, Berkshire, has known he wanted to be a DJ since the age of six. Last summer, aged 12, he held up a sign for three days begging to DJ at Hampshire festival Carfest - and it worked. A year on, and he has performed gigs and at festivals across the country under the name DJ Hypester, and received support from some of the biggest stars in the business. Harry's love of music started when he was just a toddler. "After I started going to Carfest when I was two years old, that's when I really started to get into house, dance, that sort of music," he said. It was at that same festival four years later that he realised he wanted to be a DJ. "I said to my dad 'can you actually do this as a job?'" he said. "And he was like 'yeah' and I was like 'I'll do that then'." 'Best feeling ever' In 2023, he played a set at Carfest after holding up a sign reading "let me DJ" for three days. "I just held my ground," he said. "On the Sunday afternoon... we got a message from Carfest saying 'come to the stage now'... and I ran as fast as I could." He said the experience was "amazing". "It was the best feeling I've ever felt because it's the first time I've ever DJ'd in front of that big of a crowd," he said. His story was picked up by DJ duo Chase & Status - the "biggest of the biggest". Since then, he has performed at Carfest again, as well as at Boardmasters Festival in Cornwall, The Bog in Bristol, and Arts ARKADE in London. His mum, Barbra, said her son had always loved music and she knew he would be successful. "We knew it was coming - we just did not know it was going to be this quick," she said. She said watching him perform was "amazing". Harry said his favourite thing about performing was the "adrenaline", but picking a favourite gig was impossible. "All my gigs are my favourite," he said.
