The answer: Yes. Residents were optimistic Wednesday when they saw the contractors working to fix the alarm, but they remained skeptical because of how long the problem had persisted. But it was indeed a silent night.

"The sound didn't come from the alarm last night, and I think you're behind that," Mohamed Kharabiesh — one of the neighbors who first contacted abc27 about the problem — said Thursday to an abc27 News crew.

Family Dollar apologized earlier in the week to neighbors for the alarms and how long the problem lasted.
