MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A Silverhill man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to multiple child pornography charges.

According to the United States Department of Justice, 55-year-old Kevin Wilson pleaded guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to distribute and receive child pornography, and seven counts of distribution and receipt of child pornography.

Court documents say law enforcement received a tip in October 2023 from an internet service provider that an image of child pornography had been uploaded by an email associated with Wilson.

Wilson's cell phone was searched and officials found over 900 child pornography images. Officials also discovered hundreds of chats on social media sites.

The DOJ release said there were thousands of photos of child pornography in those chats. Wilson also described his desire to sexually abuse children.

Once released from prison, Wilson will serve a 15-year term of supervised release. He will also have to register as a sex offender.
