FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — SLED has canceled a "Blue Alert" after locating an "armed and dangerous" man wanted for allegedly shooting a Chesterfield County police officer Thursday night.

Alston Modlin, 27, allegedly shot an officer with the McBee Police Department during a traffic stop, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said. The officer is in the hospital but is expected to be OK.

SLED has not released any details about when or where Modlin was found or whether he was injured.

Earlier Friday, SLED had said Modlin was seen driving west in Florence at about 6 a.m. and that he was believed to have been driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with a "LEER" sticker on the back window and South Carolina license plate KRF577.

Nexstar-affiliate WJZY in Charlotte reported that the shooting occurred near McBee High School and a convenience store near S. 11th Street.

This is a developing story. Count on News13 for updates.
