Small Business Saturday across Terre Haute
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Saturday was a day that residents could support local businesses in a big way.
Small Business Saturday was an opportunity for people to see the magnitude of all the local businesses in the Wabash Valley. There were multiple locations across the Valley where people could come and do some holiday shopping.
One of these places was The Hugs Shop. They were set up at the Serendipity Salon and were having a massive going out of business sale.
A portion of all the funds collected from the sales were going CODA to help purchase supplies for their shelter. Karen Hug is the owner of The Hugs Shop, and she says events like Small Business Saturday are extremely important.
“It’s everything. Small businesses in Terre Haute really make up our community. Having a day like this is super important,” said Hug.
The biggest location for Small Business Saturday was located at The Red Barn at Sycamore Farms. They had over 35 vendors of all varieties selling their unique merchandise.
Molly Barrett is the owner of The Red Barn, and she expresses how a one-stop-shop venue like this is helpful to everyone involved.
“It is a great community to be a part of. To have a place where people can come shop, buy things from them and support them, is super important to me,” said Barrett.
Any support shown to these local businesses are a great way to spread some holiday cheer in the community.
“It is just so important to support local businesses and spread a little holiday cheer. That is what it is all about,” added Hug.
Anyone who purchased something from The Hugs Store also got entered into a drawing for a gift valued at $100.
