Sons of American Legion Rejda Squadron 273 receives its charter
The Sons of the American Legion Rejda Squadron 273 received its charter at the Nov. 14 meeting of Rejda Post 273.
Tim Hecke, senior vice commander of the Sons of the American Legion of Nebraska, presented the charter to Commander Adam Miller. Also attending was David Rippe, national executive committeeman from Nebraska.
Following the presentation of the charter, the Rejda Squadron 273 took the oath of office. Officers for the new squadron are: Adam Miller, commander; Cory Kudlacek, vice commander; Kevin Behne, adjutant; Don Raskey, finance officer; and Larry Ratkovec, chaplain.
The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was established in 1932 as a program of the American Legion. The purpose is to help carry on the patriotic and community activities of the American Legion. Sons and grandsons of all U.S. veterans are eligible to join. Informational meetings were held in March and June to see if there was interest in forming a local SAL squadron. An application for the charter was completed and sent in for approval in September.
The Rejda Squadron now has 25 members with other applications pending. Dues have been set at $30 for regular members, $20 for dual (SAL and Legion), and $18 for junior members (age 18 or younger).
Contact any of the above listed squadron officers or Legion members Tom Pesek, Dean Kriz or Jim Polivka for information or application forms.
