Despite securing a dominant win over Appalachian State on Saturday, South Alabama is a 21.5-point underdog against LSU, according to FanDuel . Oddsmakers expect the game to be a shootout, with the over/under set at 66.5 points.

Las Vegas has no history to help with its predictions. This meeting will be the first in the two programs' storied histories. Both teams will undoubtedly look to make a convincing first impression.

After falling to in its season opener, LSU has won three straight games. Most recently, the Tigers defeated

LSU's offense was electric in the win, amassing 455 total yards. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was particularly spectacular. In the victory, he completed 32-of-his-44 pass attempts for 352 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.

LSU's defense did its part too, holding the Bruins to 295 total yards of offense. Moreover, the Tigers squeezed two turnovers out of UCLA. Although oddsmakers expect LSU to keep the good times rolling against South Alabama, the Jaguars won't make it easy.

On Saturday, South Alabama made a statement in its dominant 48-14 win over Appalachian State. The Mountaineers had no answers for the Jaguars' rushing attack, which notched 320 total yards. Fluff Bothwell Gio Lopez led the ground game for South Alabama, each totaling over 100 rushing yards.

Of course, Lopez's wheels weren't his only threat. The standout QB also collected 154 passing yards and two touchdowns without throwing a pick. South Alabama's defense forced Appalachian State to commit two turnovers, as well.

After the game, South Alabama head coach Major Applewhite raved about his team's performance.

"I think everybody on our team knew they were capable of this, but to be able to come do it on the road against a quality opponent — a traditional really good program, kind of the standard bearer for our conference along with a couple of other schools — there's a lot of excitement in our locker room," Applewhite said.

"There is a lot of time left in the season, but it's great that we all came tonight and had this type of win."
