CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. — A Baxter Springs man pleads guilty in a shooting case from earlier this year .
Monday, Jim Dodd, 20, pleaded guilty in a Crawford County courtroom to aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon. As part of his plea deal, two other charges were dismissed by the prosecutor. He's scheduled to be sentenced on January 6.
Two days after Valentine's Day of this year, Crawford County deputies responded to complaints of a shooting. When they arrived, they found several shots had been fired at the house, but no one had actually been shot.
Deputies say two people got into a dispute that led to shots fired, and then the suspect drove away. Authorities were able to find the suspect's vehicle ten minutes later near K-7 Highway and K-126 Highway. After a short pursuit, officers arrested Dodd in connection to the shooting.
