Southwest Lancaster gas main work set for December

S.Wright31 min ago

Intermittent road closures, detours and parking restrictions are expected near Brandon Park in southwest Lancaster city starting Dec. 13 and lasting through late February, as UGI Utilities Inc. replaces underground gas lines.

The utility plans to replace gas mains on Hazel Street between South Prince Street and Wabank Road; Laurel Street between Wabank Road and Union Street; New Dorwart Street between Hazel and West Andrew streets, Hebrank Street between Laurel and New Dorwart streets, and Groff Avenue between New Dorwart Street and Parkhill Road.

Work is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

East Cocalico Township-based UGI is in the process of replacing existing cast iron and bare steel pipes in the 49 Pennsylvania counties it serves using modern materials such as high-density plastic and protected steel. The work will cause interruptions to natural gas service, requiring UGI to access properties to inspect and relight equipment.
