A school is set to recreate its first-ever rugby union game in a special centenary match.

Framlingham College in Suffolk will host Ipswich Rugby Club Colts in a fixture which was first played 100 years ago.

The match on Sunday is scheduled to kick off at 14:30 BST, with parents, pupils, staff and college alumni spectating.

Will Cotterill, the head of rugby at Framlingham College, said taking part in the occasion would be an "absolute pleasure".

Ipswich were victorious in the original fixture played in 1924, winning against the college 28-8.

Mr Cotterill said: "It's great that [Ipswich Colts], have been able to meet us as it's not on their normal fixture list.

"We really appreciate them making the effort to get a team here so we can reenact that game.

"It shows the importance of links between the college and local clubs. It's really nice that we can support each other as a school establishment and rugby clubs to keep the great game continuing on."

He said: "For us to celebrate the 100 years is fantastic and it's a great leapfrog to move rugby forward at the college over the next few years."
