Dr. Gianna Luszko

Gianna was born in Denver to Ingrid C. Luszko and Pietro A. Luszko, the first natural born American to foreign parents. She was always the cute and petite girl who enjoyed many school activities. From gymnastics to cheerleading to academics, she excelled through Denver Public Schools graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School. Then on to Whittier College where again she excelled in academics, with the highest chemistry grades ever. After college it was on to medical school for G, first to St. George's in Granada and then making the almost impossible transfer to the University of Colorado Medical School, receiving her MD in 1999. Not one to miss out on a challenge, she was accepted for the prestigious residency in orthopedics at the University of Arizona, the second woman ever accepted into the program. Dr. Luszko continued her academic excellence and was able to publish three s in peer-reviewed medical journals for her outstanding work in orthopedics.

She loved Colorado and everything the state offered: Snow skiing, 4-wheeling, hiking, water skiing and also went bungie jumping and ice climbing in Switzerland, hiking in Nepal and scuba diving in Thailand. She had the "gift" of Diagnosis and helped out her friends and family by getting them the appropriate treatment. After just starting her 5th year of the rigorous 5 year residency; a careless driver wrecked her dreams of being an orthopedic surgeon and her spine. She suffered physical, emotional, and covid long term. She lost her life while sunbathing on a hot Saturday, something she loved to do, spending the afternoon out on the patio of her apartment building and was found unresponsive by a fellow tenant. We do not yet have a cause of death.

Gianna was dearly loved by her family and friends, and will be missed by us all. She is survived by her mother, Ingrid, brother, Marcus, Aunts Angela Falbo and Lisa Graffenberger, Cousins: Andrew & Wayne Luczko, Vincent, Frank, & Nichol Falbo; Nieces/Nephews Emmaline & Sienna Falbo, Isabelle & Henry Luczko.
