Speed suspected in deadly overnight Lenoir wreck: NCSHP

(QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Speed is suspected in a deadly crash that occurred overnight in Lenoir, North Carolina State Highway Patrol said on Tuesday.
Troopers responded to calls regarding the incident around 2:35 a.m. on Tuesday on Calico Road by Townsend Farm Lane. 22-year-old Lenoir resident Alexia Russell was found suffering from injuries and was pronounced dead on scene.
An initial investigation stated that Russell was traveling north when she lost control, drove off the road, struck an embankment and then a tree. Speed is suspected and Russell was not restrained by a seatbelt, troopers stated.
Roadways were shut down for about three hours for the investigation.
