Spray tan specialist reveals secret behind Donald Trump's orange glow

A Hollywood spray tan technician famed for working with models and celebrities has shared her theory on the mystery method behind Donald Trump 's infamous tan.

Suzie Casas, who runs Aussie Bronzed Bombshell mobile tanning, told DailyMail.com that she believes the former president is getting his tans done in an automatic spray tanning booth, as opposed to using a spray tan tech or a sunless tanning bed.

'If I have a look around his eyes, I can almost see that he's got little goggle marks, which leads me to believe that he could possibly have his own booth, like a VersaSpa [tan machine],' she said.

'He always has color on him any time we see him photographed or on TV, so it kind of looks to me like he's having a fresh spray every time he knows that he's got an event coming up, which is what most people do,' she added.

Suzie also shared her thoughts on the unique orange shade of Trump's signature glow, admitting she doesn't know exactly what he does to achieve the color.

'As far as the color goes, I don't know exactly what he's doing, but I would love Mr. Trump to call me and give me the opportunity to tan him because with me he'll never look back!' she said.

While Trump has never confirmed his tanning secrets, a makeup artist who once worked with The Apprentice star also believes that he's using an automated tanning booth.

'I know exactly what he does to himself — the tanning bed, the spray tan, he wears the goggles and you can see the hyperpigmentation around his eyes,' Jason Kelly told Harper's Bazaar in 2016.

'What I'll do is use a slightly deeper color and blend it into his tan so there's not an abrupt contrast,' he added.

In 2018, Trump's former political aid and Apprentice co-star Omarosa Manigault Newman claimed that Trump used a tanning bed almost every morning to ensure that he'd look good for the day.

However, Trump himself has adamantly denied enhancing his complexion with spray tans.

According to a statement given by a senior administration official from the White House to the New York Times in 2019, Trump's tan is all down to 'good genes' and the only powder he uses is translucent, rather than a bronzer.

While it's hard to pinpoint exactly what the former reality star has had done, he did look noticeably orange during a campaign stop in Raleigh, North Carolina on Monday.

According to a viral social media theory , Trump's bronzer use 'amps up when he's stressed'. The theory was circulated by photo editor Emily Keegin, who posted a multi-part carousel showcasing pictures as proof that after Trump first began wearing makeup on The Apprentice, his usage kept up and later escalated.

Trump's tan has certainly raised eyebrows at times, but there's two celebrities that tanning specialist Suzie swears have the best bronzed glows.

'Margot Robbie has always looked lovely. She looks beautiful. Especially when she was in Barbie, she looked great,' Suzie gushed.

'And if you notice the color of her tan when you look at her, she's got those big beautiful blue eyes, and a good tan always brings out people's eyes and makes them pop, so she looks beautiful.'

The Hollywood-based tanner also mentioned Miley Cyrus, calling the Wrecking Ball singer 'a bronzed goddess' when she performed at the 2024 Grammy Awards .

'Whoever did her tan was really paying attention because she looked natural and she just looked amazing. It didn't look like an orange tan. It looked great on her. She looked flawless!'

Miley swears by the Dolce Glow D'Oro Gradual Tanning Lotion to stay bronzed, but it's likely that she had a professional spray tan done for the Grammys.

Meanwhile, Margot used Ise of Paradise's Self-Tanning Water and Self-Tanning Drops on the set of Barbie.

For the everyday person looking for the perfect golden glow, Suzie says that it's important to stick with an organic spray tan formula over a chemical one because they're kinder on the skin and don't leave an unsavory smell.

She also advises having a good relationship with your tanning technician to ensure that they can create the right shade to match your skin tone.
