St. Leo’s Church Annual Bazaar Begins Tonight

The community banner program in Ashley Borough was very successful.
Banners were sold to area businesses and groups in the borough. The program
was coordinated through EMJAZE Marketing of Newport Township.

St. Leo’s Church, Ashley will hold its annual bazaar Thursday, June 15 to
Saturday, June 17. A disc jockey from Traveling Sounds will provide the
entertainment Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m.
The band Brass with Class will perform Friday evening at 7 p.m. and the Ray
Suda Orchestra will play Saturday at 7 p.m.

Featured food will be wings, haluski, potato pancakes, french fries and
funnel cakes.



Just a reminder



Appliances and scrap metal items will be collected in Ashley June 19-21 for
Ashley residents whose trash is collected on Fridays.

Items to be collected: stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, water heaters,
refrigerators without compressors, lawn mowers, bike frames, metal trash cans,
aluminum lawn chairs, metal cabinets and any other scrap aluminum, copper,
brass, stainless steel, cast iron or steel items.

Items that will not be collected include: 55-gallon drums, paint cans,
tires, televisions, furniture, wood and trailer skirting.

Residents are responsible for getting rid of any items not collected.

Registration forms for this collection will be available with payment of
the trash and recycling fee for the second half of the year.

The borough trash and recycling fee for the period July 1 to December 31
currently is being collected. The fee is $57.50 which can be paid at the
secretary’s office from 8 to 11 a.m. through tomorrow.

Tags also can be obtained by sending a check or money order payable to
Ashley Borough, 10 N. Main St., Ashley, PA 18706 or by depositing payments in
the borough drop box. Tags will be mailed the following day.



Sugar Notch news



John P. Ginley, tax collector, reminds residents that the face value period
for county and borough real estate and per capita taxes ends today.

After today, a 10 percent penalty will be added to all taxes paid through
Dec. 15. For an appointment, call 825-2280.
