Stark County deputies arrest masked man with a knife

STARK COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating after reports came in of a man in a costume holding a knife Tuesday morning.

Deputies say the call came in around 8:28 a.m. reporting a person in a costume with a knife in the 1400 block of Raff Road in Canton Township.

When deputies arrived, they say they quickly located the masked man, who then brandished the knife at them.

After a brief foot pursuit, deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation, officials say.

The suspect ran onto US 30 from Raff Rd SW into traffic, deputies say, before they used a Taser to disarm and detain the suspect.

Jacob Paul Weisgarber is charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, one count of obstructing official business, one count of inducing panic and one count of resisting arrest, court documents show.

He was wanted on warrants, deputies say, for aggravated possession of drugs and attempted grand theft.
