Steelers Make Second Significant Trade Deadline Pickup The Steelers continued to bolster their roster for the rest of the NFL season on Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers made a second acquisition at Tuesday's NFL trade deadline by acquiring veteran pass rush Preston Smith, according to multiple reports. The Steelers are giving up a seventh-round pick for the 10-year pro.

Earlier Tuesday, the team acquired wide receiver Mike Williams from the New York Jets.

Smith was a second-round pick of the Washington Redskins (now Commanders) in 2015. He spent four years there before signing with the Packers in 2019.

In nine starts this season with Green Bay, Smith recorded 2.5 sacks. He will presumably back up starting Steelers rushers T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith.
