Suffolk firefighters join Task Force 2 for relief efforts in western North Carolina

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Three Suffolk firefighters deployed to North Carolina with Virginia Task Force 2 (VATF2) Friday.
Master Firefighter Louis Jiannine, Firefighter Paramedic Dan Moore and Firefighter Bobby Matthews joined VATF2 to help with relief operations in western North Carolina.
Homeowners hit by Hurricane Helene face the grim task of rebuilding without flood insurance
Helene hit western North Carolina and the Asheville area especially hard, with flooding that wiped out buildings, roads, utilities and land.
Mercy Chefs responds to Hurricane Helene with hot meals for thousands
Portsmouth based Mercy Chefs is also on the ground in western North Carolina serving thousands of hot, chef-prepared meals.
