Elmira, N.Y. (WETM)– We are starting the weekend with plenty of sunshine! When can we expect some rain? Details below:
TODAY:
High pressure is in control today, meaning we'll be dry and sunny. We are still breezy today, and by this afternoon, wind gusts may pick up to 25 mph for some areas. With the breezy and dry conditions, and all of the fallen leaves and brush on the ground, a portion of the Twin Tiers is under an elevated fire risk today. Be careful when handling anything burning. Temperatures today top off in the low 60s.
TONIGHT:
Breezy conditions continue tonight, and with the NW flow, we'll see some clouds begin to stream in off of the Great Lakes. We remain dry under partly cloudy skies, and temperatures drop into the mid-30s.
THE WEEK AHEAD:
Seasonable temperatures return, and sunshine continues tomorrow, but rain is on the way for the end of the weekend. This is much-needed rain, as the entirety of the Twin Tiers is abnormally dry on our drought monitor. The rain will slowly taper off on Monday, and we'll be on a brief, cool, and dry break for the midweek.
