BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A fire in a condominium unit at Century Village Boca Raton Friday morning is under investigation. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provided BocaNewsNow.com with the following details on the blaze:
"At approximately 9:30 this morning, PBCFR Units were dispatched to the 500 block of Mansfield M in Western Boca Raton for a reported apartment structure fire. Initial arriving units found black smoke and flames coming from the front door of a second story apartment that was set back approximately 125 feet from the parking area. Units initiated an aggressive fire attack, flowing water in under 90 seconds from arrival on the scene.
People on the second story walkway stated everybody was out of the apartment, and a rapid search verified that there were no people or pets still inside. The fire was under control within 5 minutes, and was contained to the apartment of origin. One person was evaluated and transported to a local hospital. PBCFR's in-house fire investigators have been on the scene and have concluded that the fire was accidental, related to an electric recliner chair.
PBCFR consistently trains and troubleshoots many different types of scenarios in their first due zones, specifically for these situations, where local knowledge and station-based training allows us to act quickly once on the scene. In this case, stopping the fire before further spread."
