Super Bowl 59 Betting Odds: Chiefs, Lions Atop Oddsboards Entering Week 10

V.Davis27 min ago

Ten weeks into the NFL season, now is a great time to take a step back and dive into the latest Super Bowl 59 odds.

There is always value to be had in futures betting markets, and with nine weeks of football already behind us, we can make informed decisions with our midseason NFL futures bets.

Of course, there is no surprise that the teams with the shortest odds as of Tuesday, November 5, are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions. Below are the five teams with the shortest Super Bowl odds right now.

Latest Super Bowl 59 Odds Entering Week 10

The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls and are currently the only undefeated team in the NFL , so they deserve to be the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Even though their offense has not looked like the high-flying unit we saw every year from 2018-2022, the Chiefs showed last year that they can win the Super Bowl on the backs of their defense and clutch offense.

It is still hard to get used to seeing the Lions as the betting favorites among the NFC, but it is hard to argue with the oddsmakers here. They were a blown three-score lead from representing the NFC in the Super Bowl last year, and so far this year, they look just as good.

The Lions have the best record in the NFC at 7-1 and the best point differential in the entire NFL at +110.

They have impressive blowout victories over NFC contenders such as the Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys (before the Cowboys' season really tanked), and in their lone loss to the Buccaneers, they outgained Tampa Bay 463-to-216.

The other three teams in the top five - the Ravens, Bills and 49ers - fall into the "need to see it to believe it" category:

  • The Bills have been unable to get over the Patrick Mahomes playoff hump.
  • The Ravens have mostly disappointed in their playoff performances in the Lamar Jackson era.
  • As for the 49ers, they had their chance last year (and in 2020), but this season, they have struggled out of the gate with injuries. At the moment, the 4-4 Niners are not even leading the NFC West. Still, if they can get healthy, then they could easily go on another run to at least represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
  • Here is how we would recommend betting on the Super Bowl 59 odds at this time.

Below, we'll throw out our best bet among the favorites, as well as the best longshot as of early November.

Best Bet to Win Super Bowl 59: Chiefs (+420) FD

This is chalk, but the Chiefs are still the best bet to win the Super Bowl, even as the betting favorite. This team has either been either the favorite or one of the top two throughout the previous two seasons, and we all know how that turned out.

The Chiefs defense is really what turned everything around for them, especially last season. For years, the defense was what held this team back, but that has completely flipped the past two seasons.

This year, according to DVOA, the Chiefs have the third-best defense in the NFL . They completely shut down the run game, while also allowing the fewest receiving yards to WRs in the NFL . Their only weak spot is guarding tight ends, and that is mostly by design.

Their offense has still been good this year, as it is the league's ninth-best, per DVOA. There are reasons to believe that this unit will improve offensively over the rest of the season as well.

K.C. has lost key skill position players in RB Isiah Pacheco and WR Rashee Rice, but it still boasts a top-10 offense thanks to the magic of Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce .

They have also made recent moves to improve their offense, signing Kareem Hunt and trading for DeAndre Hopkins, both of whom have already made a big impact.

Best Super Bowl 59 Longshot Bet: Packers (+2200) DK

As for our highest-upside prediction, let's go with the Green Bay Packers, who are still being undervalued in the betting markets.

It has been a weird season for the Packers, with QB Jordan Love missing a couple games early this year due to a knee injury, then struggling through a groin strain the last two weeks.

Taking a step back, though, we see a team that has posted a record of 6-3 while weathering multiple injuries to its young star QB. Unfortunately, Green Bay's 6-3 record is good for only third place in the brutal NFC North, behind the Lions and the Vikings.

The Packers, however, are still the eighth-best team in the NFL , according to DVOA, with both the eighth-ranked offense and eighth-ranked defense. The defensive ranking is particularly encouraging, as the Packers really struggled on that side of the ball last year.

If Love can get healthy and play at the same level he did at the end of the 2023 season, and the improved Green Bay defense can continue to play at a high level, it is not hard to see the Packers making a run to Super Bowl 59.
