Suspect identified in Rapid City shooting

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Authorities in Rapid City have identified the suspect in a shooting that happened earlier in the week.

On September 16, Rapid City Police say they were called to the 100 block of E. Watertown Street for a report of an individual who had just been shot.

On scene, police discovered that an altercation with several people led to a man being shot. The man was taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

On Thursday, Rapid City police named 26-year-old Jamys Flying Horse of Sioux Falls as the suspect in the shooting. An active warrant for attempted murder has been issued for Flying Horse. Police say the shooting is believed to be drug-related.

Authorities say Flying Horse should be considered armed and should not be approached by the public. Anyone with any information about his whereabouts should contact police at 605-394-4131. An anonymous tip can also be submitted by texting the letters "RCPD' and the information to 847411.
