Syracuse firefighters battle large fire on city’s west side
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse firefighters are on the scene of a vacant apartment building fire on the city's west side. This is along the 100 block of Seymour Street, near Seymour Elementary.
Firefighters were called out around 5:45 a.m. Large amounts of smoke and flames were reported coming from the rear of the building.
Firefighters on the scene tell us it's a five-story vacant building. There are no injuries reported.
We're told they're taking a defensive approach – fighting the fire from outside of the building, since it is a vacant structure.
If you drive to work in that neighborhood you want to find an alternate route. Seymour Street is closed between West Street and Onondaga Street.
