Taste of CityPlace: The ultimate foodie experience in West Palm Beach

J.Thompson2 hr ago

Taste of CityPlace offers food enthusiasts an exceptional opportunity to explore diverse culinary offerings from local vendors in a vibrant atmosphere. This annual event showcases the culinary excellence that CityPlace has brought to our community for more than two decades.

Last Thursday, as the sun set over the WMYEIAOSUTR (My East Is Your West) art installation, the heart of CityPlace came alive with the energetic buzz of locals and visitors gathering for one of the area's most anticipated annual events. This October tradition delivers a delightful fusion of flavors, entertainment, and community spirit, attracting food lovers eager to sample the latest creations from local restaurants.

This year's edition exceeded expectations. Rosemary Ave transformed into a culinary paradise, where ticket holders embarked on a gastronomic journey, sampling various dishes that previewed the fall and winter menus of participating restaurants. The atmosphere was electric, with chefs presenting innovative creations while live music provided the perfect backdrop to the evening's festivities.

The exclusive VIP experience, beginning 30 minutes before general admission, allowed privileged ticket holders early access to the event's offerings. These guests enjoyed two complimentary beverages and the opportunity to sample dishes before the main crowds arrived. The relaxed pre-event atmosphere provided an ideal setting for VIPs to savor carefully curated dishes ranging from elegant hors d'oeuvres to hearty fall-inspired fare.

As the evening progressed, established restaurants, including City Cellar, El Camino, and Maman, presented their newest seasonal creations, each embracing the "Homegrown" theme, celebrating the region's local produce and culinary talent. Guests particularly praised the wood-fired pizzas from Adrienne's Pizzabar, artisanal gelato from Angie's Epicurean, and fresh, health-conscious bowls at Pura Vida. Even national chains like BurgerFi and Starbucks participated with locally-inspired specialties, while dessert enthusiasts found sweet satisfaction at Sloan's and The Salty.

A bittersweet moment marked the evening as City Pizza Italian Cuisine , a beloved CityPlace establishment of over 20 years, participated in its final event before relocating to the Palm Beach Outlets in November. While the neighborhood will miss this popular dining spot known for its al fresco dining experience, patrons can look forward to enjoying the same excellent service and delicious offerings at its new location.

This year's event featured an unexpected highlight—a golf popup by Dryvebox. The installation, positioned across the lawn, captured attention with its high-tech golf simulator. Sports enthusiasts and casual players alike took advantage of the opportunity to practice their swings using state-of-the-art simulation technology from industry leaders TrackMan and Full Swing Golf. This innovative addition successfully merged athletic entertainment with the evening's culinary focus.

Beyond the festivities, the event served a greater purpose by supporting the Promise Fund of Florida in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The organization's mission to increase access to cancer screenings and treatments added meaningful impact to the evening's indulgences.

As the night concluded, it was evident that Taste of CityPlace represents more than a food festival—a celebration of community spirit. This event has showcased Palm Beach County's finest culinary talents, highlighting the area's dynamic food scene for over two decades. From emerging restaurants introducing innovative menus to established favorites reimagining classic dishes, this year's Taste of CityPlace proved exceptional.

For those who missed it, the good news is that CityPlace is constantly evolving, with new eateries and experiences popping up year-round. But for the lucky attendees who strolled through its streets on this crisp October night, Taste of CityPlace will be a memory to savor until the next one.
