"It was a broken family, a broken home." Looking back at his past relationship with his mom and dad, Dwyane Wade doesn't recall the hard times out of spite due to the pressure it built on him as a kid. Then in 2008, he even bought a church for his mother, who continued her journey after a tough period. Now, during the Strategic Growth Forum from EY, the Miami Heat legend spoke about his journey as a source of inspiration.

On his Instagram, Dwyane Wade added a story from the forum and wrote, "Vulnerability." He said, "Visit my mom in prison. Think about being a kid who has to look at his mom on the other side of the plexiglass and talk to her through the phone. That was the last time I went to visit my mother in jail. I couldn't do it, I asked my father to never take me back again." Even his mother Jolinda Wade wasn't proud of the outcome of her actions.

"I saw the look on his face. Like 'Why is my momma behind there? What's going on?' He didn't know what was going on. And I remember saying, 'Momma loves you.' I said, 'Who's your favorite girl?' He said, 'You are, momma,'" Jolinda spoke to CBN in 2022 about her journey and recovery from dr-g add-ction, which resulted in her being in jail. She was arrested for possessing for the intent to sell. Despite not visiting jail again, Dwyane Wade and Jolinda stayed connected.

"But, me and mamma always kept in touch. We wrote letters, we still have them till this day. We sent letters back and forth. I'm just a kid, I wanna make my mom proud. So a lot of my journey was that I just want to be that kid to make his mom proud, to make his dad proud, to make his family proud." While he spoke about her mother's journey , he teared up.

He once again explained that the journey her mother is on gives the entire family the strength to fight and overcome their battles. Despite being a broken family, at first "I say that everything is good now, we are all together." Hence, letters are not where Wade stopped helping her mother.

How Dwyane Wade's gift is helping his mother and countless others In 2008, the 3x NBA Champion, apart from the previous gifts of a house and cars, gifted his mother a church. Jolinda Wade started her minister training together with LaDell Jones, who was also present at the opening of 'The Temple of Praise'. Before accepting the gift, Dwyane Wade's mother was looking at opportunities and building where she could start and even tried to get loans approved.

But the Miami Heat legend swooped in because "My mother is not the kind of person who will come to me and ask me for this kind of favor. She's so thankful for even the little things I've done for her." He spoke to the press during the opening back in 2008 . Even Jolinda felt like it was a new beginning.

"I feel reborn. Matter of fact, I feel reborn every day. There's always something new every day. I just thank God for the experience." Because of her struggles, she couldn't spend much time with Dwyane Wade, but the 13x All-Star still recalls the tough times being the reason for his strength.
