Teen killed in overnight shooting in Little Village

CHICAGO — A teen boy has died after a shooting on the city's West Side late Friday night.

Chicago police said the gunfire erupted just before 11:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of South Trumbull Avenue, in Little Village.

Police were called to the scene following a report that a person had been shot in the area and when they arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot in the back.

The teen was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting, but a witness told officers that they had seen several males fleeing from the scene following the incident.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
