Charges have been upgraded for a 17-year-old who was accused by authorities of shooting a 30-year-old victim Thursday night after the man died Friday, according to authorities from Northampton County.

Altaron Amir Robinson, 30, of Allentown was rushed to St. Luke's University Hospital in Allentown after local authorities found him suffering from gunshot wounds at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, the Lehigh Valley Coroner's Office said Saturday.

The shooting happened near Governor Wolf Elementary School Thursday night leading to the school's closure on Friday as investigators continued work at the scene, the school district announced on social media . Authorities said the shooting did not occur on school grounds.

Gianni Santini, 17, of Bethlehem was initially charged with felony attempted criminal homicide, aggravated assault and two counts of felony robbery in addition to weapons offenses, Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta announced Friday afternoon.

Santini surrendered to police late Friday night and is scheduled to be preliminarily arraigned Saturday, his attorney said Saturday morning.

The charges were upgraded to criminal homicide, aggravated assault, robbery and weapons offenses, according to Santini's attorney.

Robinson was found in the area of the 1900 block of Butztown road in Bethlehem, the coroner's office said.

Police said Friday that the shooting was not a random act and that Santini fled the scene of the shooting. Authorities did not release a motive for the shooting on Friday.

Robinson's death has been ruled a homicide by the coroner's office and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 30, the coroner's office said.

Since the charges involved deadly weapons, authorities said Santini would likely be prosecuted as an adult.

The Bethlehem Police Department and Northampton County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. No additional details on what lead the Robinson's shooting were released by authorities.
