Mike Elko has arrived in College Station, signalling the start of a new Texas A&M football era after a failed partnership with Jimbo Fisher.

It appears that Texas A&M football has found a replacement for Jimbo Fisher as the program's head coach, with Mike Elko reportedly already agreeing with the Aggies to take over the position, per Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Elko has also arrived in College Station, a strong sign that an official statement about his new job with Texas A&M football is going to be announced soon. Here's the video of Elko's arrival via plane, per Carter Karels of GigEm247.

Elko is not a new face for Texas A&M football and the program's fans. Before he coached the Duke Blue Devils from 2022 to 2023, he was the Aggies' defensive coordinator of the team under Fisher from 2018 to 2021.

With Elko at the helm, the Blue Devils won 16 games overall against nine losses and also won the Military Bowl in 2022. In his first year as Duke's head coach in 2022, the Blue Devils went 9-4 after going 3-9 a season before under David Cutcliffe. That paved the way for him to win the 2022 ACC Coach of the Year honor, opening the eyes of many about his coaching chops.

The Aggies are hoping that Elko will be able to get the team to the top which they failed to reach under Fisher. Texas A&M football did not even have a bowl game in each of the previous two campaigns, though, they are expected to have one this year after finishing the regular season with a 7-5 overall record.

The 46-year-old Elko also had stints with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as defensive coordinator.
