Texas Rapper Gest Life For Brutal Sex Trafficking Of Minors And Adult

Jacorey Nathaniel Anderson, also known as Slando Kareem, a 29-year-old rapper from the Houston and Austin areas, has been sentenced to life in prison for sex trafficking three minors and an adult. Anderson's conviction came after a five-day trial and less than two hours of jury deliberation.

One of the minor victims testified, detailing the devastating impact Anderson's actions had on her childhood and relationships. U.S. District Judge David Hittner noted the severity of the crime, especially considering two of the victims were only 15 years old.

U.S. Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani commented on the case, highlighting the disturbing connection between Anderson's music and his crimes.

"This case exemplifies how art sometimes imitates life. Anderson, a rap musician, performed vile songs glorifying the pimp/prostitute relationship," said Hamdani. "Unfortunately, for several young girls, he breathed life into his poorly crafted lyrics – providing drugs, starving and trafficking them for his own financial gain. Despite the trauma they suffered, the victims in this case bravely testified against him at trial which secured his convictions...and thanks to their bravery, Anderson's glorification of commercial sex, his human trafficking and his misogyny ends, both in art and in real life."

The investigation revealed that Anderson lured the victims to Austin through social media and text messages. With the help of co-conspirators Lelonnie Stephon Jackson and Thomas Jarrett Barraza, he transported them, instructed them on engaging in prostitution, and pocketed all the proceeds.

The victims were subjected to starvation, drug use, and physical abuse, as evidenced by a disturbing rap video showing Anderson assaulting one of them.

Anderson's arrest in Dallas for attempting to traffic an undercover officer posing as a minor led to the discovery of his other victims. Jackson and Barraza have also pleaded guilty for their roles in the crimes and received prison sentences or are awaiting sentencing.

"Through the efforts of our special agents and law enforcement partners, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has taken another violent sex trafficker off our city streets," said acting Special Agent in Charge of HSI Dallas Travis Pickard. "The victims' this defendant abused can now began their process of healing with this criminal behind bars for the remainder of his life."

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance (including the FBI and Houston Police Department), and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Sherri L. Zack and Kimberly A. Leo.
