A homecoming parade is being hosted for Team GB's Olympic and Paralympic rowers.

The celebrations - due to take place throughout the day - will see athletes riding an open-topped bus through Henley-on-Thames, starting at the iconic Leander Club and finishing at the Town Hall.

They are also taking part in a rowing event before mingling with the public after the parade, and attending a private Leander Club reception.

General manager of the club Al Heathcote said he was "very proud" of the rowers, and that it would be a "great opportunity to meet these current Olympic heroes in person".

The rowing event was set to start at 09:30 BST ahead of a bus procession at 11:15, accompanied by the Wokingham Brass Band, before arriving at the Town Hall just before midday.

After speeches from mayor Rory Hunt and Leander captain Lola Anderson, athletes planned to meet members of the public in Market Place before boarding the bus again at 12:30 to return to the club.

Henley Town Council said there would be road closures during the rowing event and the parade.
