‘That’s a big problem’: East Texas counties enact burn bans, face dry conditions, wind

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Though it's finally beginning to feel like fall in East Texas with cooler temperatures, the danger of fire has many counties enacting burn bans.

Most would think burn bans would only be during the hot and dry months of summer, but the dry conditions have carried over into fall, causing fire concern.

The KBDI (Keetch-Byram) drought index is still applicable right now, as fire officials gauge variables such as moisture in the soil, humidity and with the onset of fall, wind.

Gregg County Fire Marshal Mark Moore talks about why conditions are so favorable right now for out-of-control fire.
