The biggest bauble trends for Christmas 2024 - plus our round-up of the best

It's only November, but we're already feeling exceptionally festive. Maybe it's because the summer weather was so rubbish we can barely remember what the sun looks like, or maybe it's because we're so excited about the slew of rubbishy upcoming Netflix rom-coms . Either way, we're ready to hunker down in our homes, put up the Christmas decorations and enjoy a glass (or two) of mulled wine.

According to YouGov data, the big 'Treekend' – when most people put up their decorations – is the first weekend of December. Given that's just three weeks away (yes, we can't believe it either), you need to start ordering lights and baubles now if you're short on decorations, else they probably won't arrive in time. And let's be honest, there are few things more tragic than a sparsely decorated tree in the middle of your living room.

So what type of baubles are we opting for in 2024? Research from NOW suggests traditional Christmas decorations are on the decline, with over a third (34%) of Brits saying they're boring and half (50%) saying they want their Christmas tree to reflect their passions.

Instead, we're opting for meaningful decor (over three-quarters of Brits own personal baubles that have a special meaning to them) and over-the-top, statement tree decorations that somehow have nothing to do with Christmas at all.

At Selfridges, food and drink-themed baubles (think a matcha latte, coffee machine or tin of anchovies – all with glitter) are now the retailers' fastest selling tree decorations. John Lewis 's new 'sugar and spice' range, meanwhile, includes everything from a smiling battenburg slice bauble to a mini dinosaur holding balloons.

To help you get your tree looking tip-top, we've found 17 of the prettiest baubles for 2024. Whether your tree's vibe is more muted and classic or maximalist and eclectic, you'll find something perfect below...
