The bizarre reason Georgia football's live mascot Uga won't travel to Texas for mega college matchup

One of the most recognizable members of Georgia's football program has four legs in the team's live bulldog mascot, Uga, who has his own dog den on the sidelines of Sanford Stadium in Athens.

Uga XI, whose real name is Boom, is in his second season as the live Bulldogs mascot, but will miss this weekend's mega-clash on the road against Texas.

The bizarre reason behind it reportedly has nothing to do with a previous Uga's near-death encounter with the Longhorns' live mascot, Bevo, the last time the teams played in 2019.

Uga's owner, Charles Seiler, said the reason is his pup is 'really young and immature and crazy as hell,' per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Seiler added the newest Georgia live mascot has yet to be on a plane or a bus, a necessary part of travel from Athens to Austin.

Seiler directly denied that his dog will not be making the trip due to Bevo charging at Uga X, Boom's father Que, on New Year's Day in New Orleans five years ago.

Some college football fans on social media did not buy the excuse.

'Bro didn't want the smoke,' one user on X said.

The average longhorn steer weights between 1,400 and 2,500 pounds, while male English bulldogs, Uga's breed, weigh around 55 pounds. That's quite the tale of the tape.

The Bulldogs playing the Longhorns on the gridiron is the biggest college football matchup of the weekend and a possible preview for the Southeastern Conference championship game or a College Football Playoff showdown.

Either way, a possible tragic reunion of the mascots will have to wait for another time.
