MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — A crowd gathered in Manchester Saturday for the town's Hispanic Heritage Day celebration.

Visitors were able to check out live music and cultural performances all along Spruce Street. There were shops from local restaurants and vendors, live music and community activities all with the goal of uplifting Hispanic neighborhoods in Manchester.

"There's diversity. That's what we want in this town, so people know that we are a diverse community," said Manchester Town Council member Jessee Muñiz Poland.

Hispanic Heritage Day started as a small celebration sponsored by the Manchester Latino Affairs Council five years ago and has only grown in scale since.
